November Summary

Here we are in to the last month of the year already! Who is excited for Christmas?

November as always was a busy and fun one for dates-n-mates Aberdeen.

November Member Events

  • Inverurie trip to visit Grampian Opportunities
  • Brunch
  • Speed dating
  • Cinema
  • Play, a pie and a pint

Our first event in November was linking with Grampian Opportunities visiting their premises in Inverurie and spending time with their Go Dynamix group. We had lunch with them and played some ice breaker games to get to know them. This was good for linking with other organisations and meeting new people.

Our Director, Sarah, led the Cinema event herself with member Liz’s help. They went to see Nativity Rocks which they enjoyed. Sarah and Liz did a great job of leading the event and we hope they will lead more in the future.

Other November News

The RGU students who are organising fundraising events for us as part of their coursework completed their event presentation this month. Our Events Coordinator, Louise, went along to hear all about their final plans. Their fundraising is really coming along well. Save the date – Friday 1st of March for their big Hollywood themed event!

Our Project Coordinator, Laurie, went to London for a few days competing the 2nd part of the relationships and sexual health training that her and Molly (Glasgow staff member) have been doing. They will use what they have learned to help develop future member training. Louise & Michelle are also completing similar training in December.

We also attended the ‘Completing the puzzle’ event put on by Aberdeen City Health & Social Care Partnership and we also attended the Risk & Opportunity Conference.  We were able to network with a few other organisations at these events.

Membership Officer, Michelle, carried out a few new member interviews so we are looking forward to having some new faces at upcoming events.

Finally, our Colleagues in Glasgow celebrated 10 years of dates-n-mates which is amazing. Congratulations to them as the starting project which led to ourselves starting up too!

Now for all the fun of the Christmas Countdown!
