Our open Valentines Party this year was held at the Doubletree by Hilton hotel at Aberdeen beach. A fun night of dancing, socialising with friends and partners and enjoying the buffet!
This year we also included a Prom King and Queen competition where attendees voted for who they wanted to win. This could be based on who they got along with the most, who they thought danced the best or had the best outfit on the night. The winners (our members Liz and Adam) were announced before the raffle and given a certificate, a £5 off voucher for our anniversary party, box of sweets and a little crown to wear.
As some of you may know we are planning to get a group together to take part in the Kiltwalk this year, so we have introduced a few fun walking events in the lead up. We started this month with a scavenger hunt – wandering around the city centre and beach area looking for a list of items which related to the project.
For example: a heart (relating to our dating services), a wheelchair accessible entrance (as ALL our event venues are accessible), something red (our Aberdeen logo is red) and a smiling face (because we help our members to be happy and sociable). We also had a list of fun photos to take along the way, including silly face selfies!
This was a really fun little activity to get us started on our Kiltwalk practice.
Other news this month:
At our pub lunch event, we met with Charlotte from Enable’s ACE group – she told us all about the fantastic things that the group does, invited us along to join them sometime and our members talked to her about what dates-n-mates do too. It was lovely to meet her and we look forward to linking with them more in the future.
We sent all the event invites for March and April to our members so lots more to look forward to!
As you may remember, we have a few staff changes coming up so we interviewed for a new member of staff to join us for a few months. Our new staff member will be starting in March and we will introduce her properly once she is settled in.
Now on to March, which we are kicking off in style, with a Hollywood Hits fundraising night on the 1st organised by RGU students. We can’t wait!
