Volunteers Week – 1st to 7th June

It’s Volunteers week between 1st -7th June, and it’s a chance for us at dates-n-mates to celebrate our member and non-member volunteers.

We honestly couldn’t do what we do here at dates-n-mates without the help and support of all our non-member volunteers. They give up their free time, often in the evenings, to spend time with dates-n-mates members, helping them make friends, build relationships and in some cases, even find love!

Also, our member volunteers are an invaluable part of dates-n-mates, from helping to set up venues, sell raffle tickets, tidy up after nights out, or working as Friendly Faces to help new members feel at ease. Our member volunteers are an integral part of our organisation.

A massive thank you to everyone who helps out at dates-n-mates – we absolutely couldn’t do this without you!

Virtual Events with dates-n-mates

As many of your know, all our events have been cancelled/postponed due to the Coronavirus.

However, it will take a lot more than the Coronavirus to keep the dates-n-mates team down, so we are putting together a programme of “virtual” events to keep everyone entertained and their spirits up!

Some of our online events will include a weekly themed quiz, a ladies pamper evening, a lads night in evening, a cinema club, a book group, a host of interactive games including charades, hangman and a scavenger hunt, and lots lots more!

So don’t get too downhearted! There’s a lot we can do to keep ourselves and each other amused. Look out for the Zoom link for each event in the Facebook group, and we really look forward to seeing you all there!

Virtual Coffee and Cake

We will be having our very first virtual coffee and cake meeting on the video chat app called Zoom, on Tuesday 7th April at 11am.

It’s a chance for our members to tell us what type of online events they want to see during this lock down period – and the chance to have a cup of coffee and a chat!

All events postponed

We are sad and disappointed to announce that as from 6pm on Monday 16^th March 2020 all dates-n-mates events are postponed until further notice.

This includes our Gala Awards Dinner, planned for Thursday 19^th March and Club LATE on Thursday 26^thMarch.

The postponement applies to our branches in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Renfrewshire and Falkirk.

This action is in response to the current public health crisis and after taking direction from Health Protection Scotland. We believe that many of our members would be putting themselves or their loved ones at unnecessary risk by attending our social events. And as the Coronavirus continues to spread, our top concern is to make sure that our members, staff and volunteers are safe and remain well.

We hope that it won’t be long until our events programme is running again but at the moment we cannot say when this will be.

In the meantime, we urge all members to continue to follow the NHS guidance on how to avoid catching and spreading the virus.

We are now in the process of contacting our event attendees and our members and sincerely apologise to you all for the disappointment and frustration that this difficult decision will undoubtedly cause.

January update ( Phew, It’s Been Busy!)

So It has been a busy month here at Dates n Mates Glasgow.

We have had great nights out to get us all through the long January months with highlights being CLUB LATE and the pub night in Hengler’s Circus .

Also the dates-n-mates choir has been great fun with amazing singers practising to entertain everybody at the Gala Dinner on the 19th March, you are all in for a big treat!

We had a visit to the office from the RS McDonald Trust who met our members and was amazed at how great dates n mates are. Well done to everyone who came along and helped on the day.

And what do we have to look forward to .

VALENTINE’S NIGHT PARTY, Kiltwalk practice, Bowling, Training, Snooker. It never stop here at Dates-n Mates . So get yourself along to one of our amazing events and have a great night and if you see me at one say hello.
